About this event
From November 3 to 6, our Director, Rail Fund, Chantal Guénette and our Policy analyst, Rail Fund, Matt Henrie, will be participating at the 2025 SEPA Conference in both Moose Jaw and Waskesiu Lake.
Chantal will be presenting at both locations with a session entitled “Who Pays? Your Roadmap to Financial Recovery Following a Major Railway Accident Involving Crude Oil.” Participants will walk away with practical steps on how to integrate cost recovery strategies and claims preparedness into their emergency response plans.
You can visit our booth at the Trade Show, where you can meet us directly.
For many municipal, local and Indigenous governments across Saskatchewan, the regular passage of trains carrying crude oil has become a hallmark of daily life. The province has thousands of kilometres of rail lines, with major rail hubs running directly through many communities.
While generally safe, the transportation of dangerous goods like crude oil can pose risks to communities, the environment, and the economy. The frequency of these shipments highlights the need for municipalities to proactively address these risks.
We look forward to meeting first responders and local leaders to hear their concerns about the compensation needed in the event of an accident.
