From June 2 to 6, Caroline Healey, the Head of our organization and Administrator of both the Ship Fund and the Rail Fund, will be participating in the National Administrative Law Week events and training program, organized jointly by the Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice (CIAJ) and the Council of Canadian Administrative Tribunals (CCAT).
On April 15 and 16, we will be attending the AMM 2025 Spring Convention and Trade Show. Chantal Guénette, Director, Ship and Rail Compensation Canada – Rail Fund, will be presenting at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15 with a session entitled “Who Pays? Your Roadmap to Financial Recovery Following a Major Railway Accident Involving Crude Oil.” Participants will walk away with practical steps on how to integrate cost recovery strategies and claims preparedness into their local emergency response plans.
From May 1 to 2, we will be attending the Alberta Municipalities 2025 Public Risk Conference.
Chantal Guénette, Director, Ship and Rail Compensation Canada - Rail Fund, will be making a presentation entitled “Who Pays? Your Roadmap to Financial Recovery Following a Major Railway Accident Involving Crude Oil”, at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 2.
From February 24 to 26, 2025, Steve D. Anderson, our Deputy Administrator, will be participating at the Complex Claims & Litigation Forum 2025.
In the event of a major railway accident involving crude oil, the Rail Fund may need to handle a high volume of claims efficiently. As part of our ongoing preparedness efforts, we are working on building a streamlined claims process. By engaging with experts at this conference, we aim to strengthen our capacity to provide timely compensation and enhance our overall preparedness strategy.
From February 4 to 5, 2025, Elena Merritt, our Senior legal counsel, will be participating in the AFN’s National Forum on the UNDA in Vancouver.
By engaging with First Nations leaders at this conference, we aim to further explore the impact of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) on our mandate. This also aligns with our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and ensuring fair access to justice.
From May 29 to June 1, 2025, we will be participating at FCM’s 2025 Annual Conference and Trade Show. We invite you to visit our booth # 405 during the Trade Show on May 29 and 31.
